Non-destructive Testing

An important application area of shearography is non-destructive testing (NDT). Defects can be visualized through the measurement of inhomogeneous deformation or strain distributions. In addition to defect localization, the mechanical structure of the object can be further characterized based on the spatial distribution of these measurements. In combination with FEM models, it is also possible to identify material parameters in damaged areas.
