             isi-video stroboscope system            


The isi-videostroboscope is a turnkey system for observation and recording of periodical motion up to frequencies of 50 kHz and more. A common application is vibration visualisation by freezing the vibration at a vibration phase of interest or recording a slow motion of the vibration. Depending on the frequency range or velocity of motion it is possible to strobe the CCD or the illumination source.

Technical setup and componets

The isi trigger module synchronises a signal to chop the illumination and/or CCD at any trigger phase with adjustable bandwidth to a periodic vibration input signal. The input signal can be a periodical signal such as from online vibration measurement by accelerometers. Optional there is function generation sources available. Based on PCI-computer board series the isi-trigger system offers computer controlled features for vibration analysis in conjunction with the software Shearwin or with other imaging software via separate user interfaces or DLLs

CCD cameras with various resolutions (e. g. 1024x768) and shutter speed (e. g. 1/100.000 sec.) are available. For high frequency range the use of  ional IR-LED Arrays (Infrared) is optional. The combination of daylight filters and CCD integration time of e. g. ¼ sec. (shutter time) offers the application of the video-system on large objects under low light power.


The Software Shearwin (video strobe edition) is a specialized software tool for automatic controlled operating and recording of the video stroboscope system.
The software offers image processing such as automated edge detection and measurement tools for qualitative evaluation. 

The system can be extended for 3D deformation and strain measurement by a stereo-cameras and digital image correlation. More information about this option (vibro-correlation system) on request.
